Items Carried at Own Risk

In addition to the list of Prohibited items, and hazardous items, there is a further class of goods that fall outside the terms and conditions of insurance.  These include fragile items that aren’t particularly well suited to an automated sorting hub.   (It is not sufficient to put “breakable” or “fragile” on the box, the parcels are sorted using an automated process, and machines cannot read these labels.)

Customers may book these items through the Parcels Please booking service, but carriage is at your own risk.  This means that it is your responsibility to ensure that packaging is sufficient for the product for an automated conveyorable sorting system.

And in addition, it means that should any damage occur to these items during transit, then there is no insurance, compensation, reimbursement or refund, or other amount payable by the parcel carrier to the customer.

Items which are carried at your own risk include;

  • Porcelain
  • China
  • Ceramics
  • Earthenware
  • Glass
  • other similar items
  • Liquids (other than hazardous liquids which cannot be carried)
  • Personal effects

If you are in any doubt as to whether your item falls into this category then please contact our customer service department via either livehelp or phone and they will be pleased to clarify the situation for you.
