A lot of suppliers always seemed to charge a lot more for shipping their goods to people up in this area. Discussing this with the locals, everybody agreed referring to this as the "Highland Tax". Eventually, one of my larger and heavier Ebay purchases forced me to investigate this matter further. I tried several companies and online searches until I came across Parcelsplease. As well as considerably undercutting the competition on this deal, the service I received from their staff was first class. I have used them several times now and they've always quoted reasonable prices and been "above and beyond" in terms of service. The couriers they use (Interlink in my case) have been punctual and the goods can be accurately tracked online. I thoroughly recommend them for Ebay puchases and other consumer shipments such as this.
